See the need for Collegiate Curls on Your Campus?
INTERESTED IN STARTING A NEW SECTOR?
Hello!
We are so excited that you are interested in having a sector of Collegiate Curls on your campus! Collegiate Curls was created on October 25, 2016 by President and Founder Courtney Hicks. She created this organization as another source of inclusion on the campus of her PWI, The College of Charleston. In 6 months the organization along with their hard working executive board was able to become the fastest growing organization on campus, secure major sponsorships, and become a safe haven for multicultural students from all walks of life.
Our mission is: Uplift, empower, and support multicultural students as they embrace their natural beauty through healthy hair and skin care practices. Hair is a unifying element, everyone has a strand somewhere on their body, and no matter the style a good hair day can affect one’s whole perspective of themselves. For the past five years, the natural hair community has become a powerful force in the media. The natural hair community has created new businesses, connected hundreds of thousands of men and women across the world, and helped people of color feel that their beauty is enough. Having this organization on campus will create a close knit community, empower men and women to walk into classes and the workplace with confidence, and maintain healthy hair, skin care, and health habits.
However, we are more than just hair, we are an organization for the uplifting of minority students through multiple facets. These facets include healthy living, exercise, mental health, and coming to know themselves through self love and gift recognition. We have various initiatives and programming that directly involve multiple ethnicities, genders, and sexualities.
