I think I want natural hair. I’m too afraid to do the big chop. It’s expensive... and the list continues. These statements have probably ran through your mind a couple times as you considered transitioning to be natural. There are so many perks in being natural but first you must know the Do’s and Dont’s. May your fro grow and your skin glow!

Do not use heat- Imagine your hair being burned by a flat iron or blow dryer every week! It makes it harder for hair molecules to have durability and causes irreversible heat damage. Replace those appliances with air drying. The shrinkage will be there but it is a whole lot better.
Do natural hair styles- There are plenty of tutorials on YouTube on how to do natural hairstyles. There are more to it then wigs and braids. A couple other styles are flat twist outs, two strand twist, crochet, puffs, wash-n-go, braid outs etc. these styles will help you along the way.
Keep your hair moisturized- Moisturizing your hair cause less breakage. There are many different way to moisturize your hair such as prepooing and the LOC Method. Prepooing is very essential because it is adding moisture into the hair before shampooing. What shampoo do to the hair is it is stripping the natural oils in the hair causing it be be very dry. Coconut Oil is helpful when it come down to prepooing. The LOC Method is usually done at the end of a wash cycle. The L stands for leave in conditioner, O stands for your oils and C for any creams. It is important to do while the hair is damp so that the hair molecules can soak up the moisturizer as it is drying.
Do not rush the process- Everybody hair is different. Some hair grow faster and slower than others. You want to have beautiful and healthy as possible. Have fun with your hair and experiment different products and styles. Get to know your hair and find out what it like and do not.
