Come on
Wake up Mr. West.
You touched the sky
But you let a golddigger get you.
And I know you’re not heartless, but its like you have no mercy.
And I guess it comes from all those flashing lights and being famous,
But you were a black skinhead but now I see your love for us is fading.
Will your daughter know?
Will she know they’re cornrows?
Will she bask in the glory of her blackness or will she confuse it with her Kardashianness?
Will you let her know that being black and a female in America puts you more likely to be economically at the bottom?
Or is she going to throw her connections in her peoples face?
Does her mother reconize that her child is black?
Does she know she can’t appropriate your daughters culture?
Mr. West I’m not attacking,
I just want to know.
Mr. West, you grew up black
Will North Grow up black too?
Will Saint know that we are being shot dead in the street?
And that our fighters are getting constantly beat?
Will he know that most of us have to talk to our sons about what to do if they get pulled over?
And how our wounds stay open to exposure?
Will you talk to him about it?
I am sure their mom is a loving one
But she has no idea how it feels to be black in America.
Do you tell her this?
Do you tell her that some of her family's “inventions” in the fashion world were already being done by us?
Even if they recognize it, why don’t you tell them to quote us next time?
To @ us
To recognize us
To see us
Do you know us anymore?
I don’t think you do
You don’t fight for us anymore, Mr. West
You were a general
Top in command
Mr. West you helped me be okay with being black
It is because his skin is blacker than liquorice now
And they do want us all behind bars
And you're already there
And you're M.I.A
And you're not a general anymore
And you're not a fighter anymore
And you’re not even someone to look up to anymore
And we don’t know who you are anymore
And it was our struggles that you talked about to put you on the top
Not our as in us and you, but our as in all of us
Because you ARE us
Your KIDS ARE US
Your silence DEFEATS US Do you even remember us?
