As spring is slooooowly approaching us, the weather is going through one of those phases where it can't decide if it wants to be warm, freezing cold, sunny or rainy. So, for those who cannot decide the best way to wear their hair in the season of change.....WE MUST BE PREPARED!
Living in South Carolina, I am so used to rain appearing out of NOWHERE. My experience of being caught in the rain with the wrong hairstyle has given me the experience and education of how to stay ready for times such as these.

1. WEAR A HEADBAND
If you decide that you don't want the rain to ruin the flow of your twist/braid out, always have a headband with you. The style will be super cute and your curls will only be pushed back a little.
2. KEEP HAIRPINS ON YOU
These tiny pieces of metal will be a lifesaver for frizzy flyaways. Hairpins can also take the place of hair ties if you happen to not have one on your wrist already.
3. GEL IT DOWN
Let's say the rain caught you slippin'. Your hair is beginning to poof up and you're low on time. If possible, take a quick trip back to your room and GEL IT DOWN. Maybe even throw on a scarf for a few minutes if time permits. Low buns are a quick and easy style to achieve with gel when your hair will not cooperate or needs to be protected.
4. KEEP A PROTECTIVE STYLE IN
To prevent these mishaps for happening to you, protective styling is a good idea while the weather settles down and decides which season it wants to be in. Box braids, passion twists, and cornrows are a few options.
5. BE MINDFUL OF YOUR PRODUCTS
When my hair is wet with the wrong product in... it turns white. If you are aware of a product that leaves residue on your hair when damp, it may be time for a change. The last thing you want to do is be caught in the rain and have to walk in your class or that important meeting with your hair looking like you need to be in a Selsun Blue commercial.
I hope these tips are a help to someone and we all become prepared to endure this strange weather among us. Stay dry!
